Since my project will be a part of the horror genre, I have picked out five openings to horror films to observe and study. This first film opening was to the 1978 horror classic, "Halloween". The budget for the film was $325,000 and had a gross income of $47 million dollars at the US box office. In today's money that would e about $150 million dollars.

It starts off with a Halloween rhyme that kids used to say and then leads off to a girl and her boyfriend having "alone time". Not much is said after that, but it seems as if we are seeing out of a person's eyes, probably the killer. The boyfriend leaves the house, leaving his girlfriend alone with the "killer". The supposed killer then continues to walk around that house and eventually puts on a mask, we can see how the "killer" sees. He then goes on to stab the girl (the girl knows his name), and in the end of the scene we see that the "killer" is a young boy holding a knife.

The film only used two camera shots, a point-of-view shot and an aerial shot. Throughout th whole first scene, incidental music is played to create a feeling of anxiety, and then does a voice over of the killer breathing heavily.

In the beginning credits, it shows the creators name and the title of the movie. It then goes on to show the producers name and the the actors and which character they will be playing, it shoes the screen play writers, the director, film editors, and the creators of the music
