Creative Critical Reflection #1

With our short film we really utilized the classic horror conventions usually seen in the most popular and iconic Horror films. My partner and I used ominous music to create suspense and tension to overall cause the viewer to feel anxious as they watch the film, wondering what going to happen.
We used a young boy as our main character because typically young boys tend be more adventurous and curious when facing something that is unknown or interesting. We used a young child because when a person sees a young child, they see purity and innocence, which is why when something horrific happens to that said child, it scares the viewer.
We also created a demonic being to be in the movie because is a classic theme among people, the fear of the unknown. Some of the most successful horror movies in the industry have monsters, demons, and ultimately things that humans can't explain or fathom. In movies such as Insidious or IT have demonic beings that haunt and kill people and/or children.

Our movie focuses on he issue of kidnapped children and the epidemic it causes. Each year about 800,000 children are kidnapped or abducted, that's about 2,000 children a day. More than 200,000 children are abducted by family members in America with an additional 58,000 children are abducted by non relatives with sexual motives, and about 115 reported cases of kidnappings with children who are abducted and killed, half for ransom, or kept. Those are only the reported cases. These statistics were obtained by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). The kidnapping that occur in the United States is a major epidemic that has not been solved. Our Movie, in a way, shows the issue of unsolved cases of abduction, just instead of a real life person, it's a demonic being which can depict what people actually think of kidnappers.
