       The second opening to a horror movie I watched was the rebooted version of the original 1990 IT. The rebooted version, IT, was filmed this year in 2017 and had a budget of $35 million dollars. It made more than $123.4 million dollars opening weekend in the box office. This movie holds the record for the biggest debut for a horror film in history. This new movie however has not been nominated for any awards, it may be in the future.                      The opening scene shows Bill, one of the main characters, making his younger brother, Georgie, a paper boat. He tells Georgie to get the wax from the cellar and then Georgie then questions if he really has to go down there, one can tell he is scared of the cellar. Feedback: Third quarter submission

       The reaction to the new and updated film was a lot more positive than the first one. People really loved seeing the demonic being in action when making its kill. They thought the overall flow of the film was great and they could follow the plot easier than the first submission. They noticed the symbolism I utilized in mise-en-scene with both the young boy and the demons costuming. The young boy's shirt was white to symbolize the purity and innocence of children, and the demon was seen killing the innocent to take it for herself.        My film ends at about a minute thirty-six seconds which leaves a lot to be desired. One of the comments made was that the young boy at the beginning hears this voice the first time and automatically decides to investigate, it was too quick with no suspense build up. So, to utilize the work that we did before in the first film we made, we will take the first minute and a half to build suspense.

Conventions

       In my film, the conventions that I picked out from other film openings was the incidental music, children, and eerie lighting.        The incidental music occurs in every horror film opening, it immediately gives the audience an idea of how the whole movie is going to go.        Of all the research I did, about 4 out of 5 of them involved the use of child actors. Children are always considered innocent and pure since they haven't experienced the bad and corrupt parts of society. People are always protective of them, so when a child is being hunted or murdered, it scares the audience because they know there is nothing they can do to help.         The eerie lighting also plays a major role in any horror movie.
