Research- Halloween

Image
Since my project will be a part of the horror genre, I have picked out five openings to horror films to observe and study. This first film opening was to the 1978 horror classic, "Halloween". The budget for the film was $325,000 and had a gross income of $47 million dollars at the US box office. In today's money that would e about $150 million dollars.         It starts off with a Halloween rhyme that kids used to say and then leads off to a girl and her boyfriend having "alone time". Not much is said after that, but it seems as if we are seeing out of a person's eyes, probably the killer. The boyfriend leaves the house, leaving his girlfriend alone with the "killer". The supposed killer then continues to walk around that house and eventually puts on a mask, we can see how the "killer" sees. He then goes on to stab the girl (the girl knows his name), and in the end of the scene we see that the "killer" is a young boy

Project Selection- My Decision

The project I have chosen with my partner is a film. I decided to create a film for my project because I love to write stories. It has always been a hobby of mine and will really help in creating a storyboard/script for this film. Making a film would allow me to use my creativity and my craftsmanship. I'm also really into art, and creating costumes will be a new medium to challenge me.        My partner, Chloe, and I have decided to make a suspense and horror film. The film would follow a young boy who starts to hear an unexplained sound that no one else seems to hear. (We were thinking something creepy, like a giggle) The film would go to different instances of him hearing this mysterious sound and then showing his parents getting worried. As you hear the voices of the young boy's parents he will wonder into a forest, trying to find his new "friend" that he keeps hearing, only to find out that his new friend is not so friendly.        The group will consis

Project Selection- Magazine

Some aspects of journalism that interest me based on experiences in class is that journalists have the ability to spread the truth and their voices to a very large audience. All President's Men  was really eyeopening to me because I never really thought about the journalists determined to expose Nixon. I    only learned that Nixon abused his power as President and resigned before he could be impeached. It amazed me how Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein strove to get the truth and facts about the story. The same goes for the T.V. show The Newsroom.  The journalists in the news-network have to go out and use their connections to get credible sources to back up their stories. Some skills that I posses that might help me with the magazine option for the exam project is that I know how to use Microsoft. I also have connections around the city, so if I needed a credible source to back up by article, I'd have one. Some of the things that I would find challenging is that I would

Project Selection- Film

Some of the aspects of film production that interest me is the ability to let your creative side take over. With the directors cut from the T.V. show The Newsroom , the directors have a script written, but they might totally change a scene because it creates a more dramatic or suspenseful story-line.  In Ferris Bueller's Day Off documentary, the movie completely strayed from the script. The director gave the actors freedom to act what they felt was right for the scene, the director would also come in on set the next day with a completely different script for the next scene. I'm a very creative person and I love to create stories so I think that producing a film is a better fit for my personality and talents than a magazine would. I also Some concerns I have for myself when creating a film is that I have never made one before. I don't really know how to edit sound or voice overs on the software that we are using. I will learn though!
